  Warren Farm c 1928

Warren farm and A. L. Wells

The census of a 1881, showed Warren Farm consisted of 265 acres and was being farmed by Sutton Coldfield born Augustine Lewis Wells (33). A.L. Wells was the son of Erdington born George M. Wells and brother to Robert Francis Wells of Kings Vale Farm, Thomas Wells of Old Oscott Farm, and George Augustine Wells. he was also Cousin to George Baines of the Manor Farm, and uncle to Bernard Baines of Oldford Farm.

Augustine Lewis Wells lived at Warren along with his 37 year old wife Elizabeth (nee Clews-her sister Rosa having married Robert the brother of A.L. Wells) and their children Elizabeth (11), Rosa (8), Augustine (7) and Francis (8). Augustine L. Wells nephew, Charles, son of George A. Wells, is described on the census as being a farm pupil, along with a servant Evelyn Nicholls who also lived at the farm.
